Product description
The shock absorber holds the front suspension assembly in line. If the bolt comes loose from below, it can cause serious damage.
For this reason, only the bolts prescribed by Volkswagen should be fitted, and not universal bolts that look a bit alike. Although these bolts are standard parts according to Volkswagen, they are not available in specialist bolt stores.
Bolts for non-Syncro models are treated with Dacromet. Dacromet bolts and nuts are more resistant to corrosion than electroplating. They are therefore identical to the original bolts supplied by Volkswagen in the 1990s. The bolts on Syncro models have not undergone this treatment. They are galvanized, less resistant to corrosion than Dacromet bolts, but still much better than ordinary steel.
These M14 bolts have a hardness of 10.9. You should also use nuts of the correct hardness (class 10). In case of doubt, it's advisable to order them as well (see "options" tab).
