By opening and closing the soft top several times, the latch can wear out, so it will need to be replaced. It often happens that these hooks are lost during a restoration, fortunately they are still available new.
The locking hook on the Karmann Ghia has another function, it is also the sun visor support, hence the difference between a left and right locking hook. On the Volkswagen Beetle, they are the same on the left and right.
