Product description
When the convertible top is folded up, it is intended to remain firmly anchored. If this is not the case, the hood can move up and down during driving and can even partially close when there is a strong gust of wind.
If this were to happen, the entire top system could be taken out of service, at an enormous cost.
When opening the hood, push it down until it clicks into the locking hooks.
With the Volkswagen Beetle until 1960 and the Karmann Ghia until 7/1971, there is an integrated spring system, which keeps everything under tension. The hooks are unlocked and the roof can be closed by pressing the hood firmly.
On the Beetle after 1960, the supports are made of galvanized spring steel, which makes the supports much simpler but also more sensitive to rust.
The loss, rust and loss of metal resilience on young models are the most common reasons why purchase or replacement is necessary.
