If you own a Volkswagen Beetle sedan between the years 1956 and 1966, you have the possibility to fit a cheap carpet set which is available in black or salt and pepper grey (see alternatives tab) but the colour and material are not the same as the original. Originally, curly, cotton-banded fabrics were used, which obviously should not be missing for an exclusive restoration.
The carpet sets listed here are made from carpets identical to those used by Volkswagen in the 50s and 60s and bandaged with cotton in the same way, not comparable to carpet sets from mass production, only comparable to the original.
This is a complete package in which the luggage compartment behind the rear seat has not been forgotten. Two eyelets are provided separately for the use of the large ring if your VW Beetle is equipped with a fuel tap and the small ring for a possible choke. Not all VW Beetles are equipped with a choke or fuel cock, so you have to make the rings yourself if this is the case.
Until 1959, aluminium rings were used for the heating flaps, after 1960 it was decided to stop using aluminium and the reinforcements were made of plastic. If you want this detail to be the same as the original for the years 1960 to 1968, you will have to reuse the plastic rings from your old carpets, but they are unlikely to be clean again.
The carpet must be glued, use glue spray which is indicated in the Options tab.
You continue to use the original rubber mats on the floor, if necessary, order them additionally. As an additional option, you can also cover the tunnel (mentioned in the Options tab), which was also originally used for certain versions and years of construction. When covering the tunnel, you must remove the tunnel part of the rubber mat, so that the rubber mat is only present on the floor.
If you want to get rid of your rubber mats altogether, it's also possible to order separate floor mats (listed in the options tab). This is not the way it was originally delivered, but it does provide a warm and luxurious interior.
