Our Volkswagens are full of screws, bolts, nuts and washers that are not all manufactured for a particular model, but are used universally. These parts can be recognized by the part number starting with the "N" of Normteile or standard parts.

You would think that these standard parts could be found in any hardware store, but Volkswagen has not made it that easy. They may be mass-produced standard parts for various applications, but most of them are not common and therefore not found on the shelves of home improvement stores.

The galvanized washers listed here have been used by various Volkswagen models for a variety of applications. Below is a list for each VW model where these washers have been used and the total number of pieces needed if you want to replace them all. An (X) means that the number required may vary from one model to another.
