Product description
If adjustments or other things need to be done to the steering rack, you cannot easily access it (especially on a Beetle 1302 or 1303). This was taken into account during the development of the bodywork, which is why there is a metal cover in the spare wheel well at the level of the steering box which gives access to the steering box. It often happens that during the restoration process the cover is lost or has deteriorated so much that putting it back is no longer an option. Many people seal the edges of the cover, after which the paint is applied. We recommend that you don't do this, but instead spray the lid loose with the paint and then push it into the hole. Should an inspection be needed later, you can remove the lid without much paint damage.
The cover clips into a 55 mm hole (the outer diameter of the cover is 55.6 mm, in case you want to use it for another purpose). Supplied individually.
