Our classics aren't getting any younger, and the selection of healthy vehicles is dwindling. 15 years ago there was a wide selection available and you didn't start a restoration project of which you literally had to scrutinize every piece of sheet metal. Most healthy Buses have already been restored and what remains needs much more attention. Even the toughest parts of the Bus are going to have weaknesses and those need to be addressed first. We are talking here about the chassis beams, if they are half rotted away there is little point in continuing to build the body. The main part of the chassis consists of the two longitudinal beams (popularly called chassis beams). Complete chassis beams are not available, but some essential repair parts can be used to restore the chassis beam to its original condition. On both the Splitscreen and Baywindow Bus, both chassis beams consist of two parts, a front and rear part, for which several repair parts are available that replace the section that has broken through and are similar in thickness and fit to the original. The way of finishing regularly changes from gray to black to unfinished, therefore the picture may vary.
