Product description
On Volkswagen Buses built between August 1967 and July 1972, there is a reinforcing crossmember behind the underside of the front panel. On Volkswagen Buses produced after August 1972, this reinforcement is also present, but it is located under the front panel.
This reinforcing plate is not considered part of the body, but part of the lower assembly, which is why it is also called a crossmember or crossbar.
If the underside of many a Buses needs to be restored, this crossmember will also need to be replaced in many cases. You can weld a plate here and there, but don't forget it's part of the chassis. If you want to do it properly, replacement is the best solution.
Note: This crossmember is made up of two parts, up to July 1972 the crossmember is closed by a locking plate and for the years from August 1972 with the front bumper reinforcement crossmember, take this extra if necessary (see options tab).
