Product description
From 8.1970, the 1300 and 1600 cc engines have a double intake and a different manifold than in previous years. The manifold now consists of three parts: a central section for mounting the carburetor and two end elbows mounted on the cylinder heads.
Originally, a 1300cc has a narrower inside diameter than a 1600cc, that's why the original 1300c end elbows do not fit on a 1600cc manifold. The intake end curves mentioned here are identical to those of a 1600cc and can therefore be used for 1600cc and 1300cc engines.
If you purchased the high flow intake manifold with the intention of mounting it on a 1300 cc engine, you will also need to use these 1600 cc intake elbows.
With some carburetor sets and separate intake manifolds for a Weber or EMPI carburetor placed in the middle, end elbows are not included, the aim is to reuse the old ones. But if you don't own 1600cc elbows, you will have to buy those extra elbows.
These end elbows are supplied in a set including gaskets, inlet sleeves and clamps which are also available separately (see replacement parts tab).
Caution: Not equipped with vacuum connections as required for automatic versions or VW Bus with brake servo, the left bend is equipped with a thickening in which a vacuum connection can be made (drilling and tapping are required) The chrome set, on the other hand, does have a provision for this in the form of a blind plug that can make way for a hose barb.
