If your Volkswagen Bus is equipped with a metal sliding roof, you are in possession of a Bus for passenger transport, this is the most luxurious version.
Leaks are common in aging Buses. Many believe that replacing the fabric gasket at the top solves the problem, but unfortunately, this gasket blocks some of the water, but it is mainly intended to serve as a windproof gasket. In case of water leakage, it should be blamed on the rainwater drainage system, if this does not work well, the water basin will be saturated and overflow.
The fabric seal mentioned here is therefore mainly intended to prevent wind noise, it is glued to the edge of the bodywork. Notches were made at various locations to follow the shape of the sunroof, otherwise the waterproofing would be affected.
