Product description
This spring often breaks. If this happens, the clutch will no longer retract fully, resulting in a slight continuous rotation of the release bearing. This can lead to premature and excessive wear.
Check the condition of the spring at every service and replace it if necessary. The spring is placed around the clutch fork and is fixed around the clutch arm on the side of the gearbox.
Assembly is not easy, and can be tricky when the arm is still mounted. Removing the arm makes the job much easier.
Please note: on Volkswagen Beetles and Karmann Ghias, the spring often does not fit, even if the correct part has been ordered for the year of manufacture indicated. This has nothing to do with the spring or the car, but with the year of manufacture of the gearbox. Indeed, it is often the case that the gearbox is replaced over time by a gearbox of a different year of manufacture. In case of doubt, it's best to order all versions of the spring and compare them with the broken spring. You can always return springs you don't need.
