Product description
In recent years, windshield wipers have been operated by the right-hand lever on the steering wheel; previously, they were controlled by a separate button on the dashboard.
Two versions are available: the first set of steering switches featured only a pneumatic wiper, which was later modified to allow connection of an electric variant in addition to the pneumatic wiper.
The choice of integrating both systems in the switch was pre-established, as at the time, no air-cooled model was yet equipped with an electric wiper. The Volkswagen Golf was already equipped with one, so, thinking ahead, they had already incorporated it. In retrospect, only the Volkswagen Beetle was fitted with one at a very late stage, right out of the factory.
If you decide to replace your pneumatic windscreen washer with an electric variant, it's advisable to choose this switch, regardless of the car's year of manufacture. There are two grades to choose from: grade A is the latest model equipped with both pneumatic and electric windshield washer systems, and is therefore also suitable for older models.lectric windshield washer, and is therefore also suitable for earlier model years which were equipped only with a pneumatic windshield washer when they left the factory. It's a high-quality switch that can't be compared with the B quality. The biggest problem with B quality is the pneumatic windshield washer - you won't be able to enjoy it for as long, so we advise you to make a well-considered choice.
Warranty: B quality doesn't come with any kind of warranty. If you make this choice, be aware that the pneumatic windshield washer may cause problems in the form of malfunction and/or leakage. In this case, you may wish to transfer the pneumatic valve from your old switch.
Note: In the case of a pneumatic washer, the top hose is connected to the washer head and the other to the washer reservoir.
