If side-mounted carburettors are fitted to the engine, they must be synchronised. This means that the carburettor adjustment on the left and right sides must be exactly the same. A synchroniser is required for this.

While the engine is running, the synchroniser is placed on the carburettor and the generated vacuum is measured. The vacuum must be equal on both sides. If this is not the case, the carburettors must be adjusted until both show the same value.

Two types of synchronisers are available:

The universal model listed here is suitable for both downdraft and sidedraft carburettors (our engines only use downdraft carburettors). This model can only be used on carburettors with a flat top surface.

In addition, a professional version is also available. This version is exclusively suitable for downdraft carburettors and is inserted into the carburettor instead of being placed on top of it. You press it airtight into the carburettor, making adjustment considerably easier and faster than with the universal model. This version can be found under the alternatives tab.

If your carburettor has prominently protruding parts, the universal model listed here cannot be used without an airtight adapter. Suitable solutions are available for the professional synchroniser in such cases. Therefore, make a well-considered choice.

Tip: Working with two synchronisers at the same time is faster, clearer and more accurate, although this is not essential.

Additional note:

The universal synchroniser contains a valve that can be adjusted further open or closed. This increases or decreases the airflow and therefore the sensitivity of the synchroniser. If the synchroniser shows no reading at low engine speeds, the valve must be closed further until the red float rises in the tube. Conversely, if the red float continuously remains at the top of the tube, the valve must be opened further to obtain an accurate reading.
