If side-mounted carburettors are fitted to the engine, they must be synchronised. This means that the carburettor adjustment on the left and right sides must be exactly the same. A synchroniser is required for this.

While the engine is running, the synchroniser is placed on or in the carburettor, after which the generated vacuum is measured. The vacuum must be equal on both sides. If this is not the case, the carburettors must be adjusted until both show the same value.

Two types of synchronisers are available:

A universal model suitable for both downdraft and sidedraft carburettors (our engines only use downdraft carburettors). This model can only be used on carburettors with a flat top surface, see the alternatives tab for this.

In addition to this universal model, there is also the professional version listed here. This is exclusively suitable for downdraft carburettors and is inserted into the carburettor instead of being placed on top of it. You press it airtight into the carburettor, making adjustment considerably easier and faster than with the universal model.

If your carburettor has prominently protruding parts, the universal model cannot be used without an airtight adapter. The professional synchroniser is therefore supplied with two adapters, making it suitable for a wide spectrum of applications. Also check the options tab, where additional adapters are listed that are specifically intended for certain types of carburettors. If necessary, these can be ordered separately.

Tip: Working with two synchronisers at the same time is faster, clearer and more accurate, although this is not essential.
