Product description
Until 1968, Karmann Ghia's soft top was closed by a central pivoting lever that operates a mechanism that simultaneously engages the left and right hook. A rather complex system that they abandoned in 1969 using the hood levers that were used by the Volkswagen Beetle of the year 1968. Aesthetically, it didn't improve things, but it was much stronger, which improved the closing and opening.
The convertible's roof handle is folded up after use and that's the biggest problem. The folding mechanism becomes lame after a while and the handle doesn't stay folded anymore, that's the most common reason why it needs to be replaced.
