Product description
The tension cables of the convertible top on both the Volkswagen Beetle and the Karmann Ghia ensure that the convertible top is properly guided when opening and closing. They also ensure that the top fits correctly against the side windows.
The rear tension cable keeps the convertible top under tension at the rear. This design was introduced on the Volkswagen Beetle in 1966 and on the Karmann Ghia in 1967. Before that, the top was simply nailed to the wooden frame.
When replacing the side tension cables, it is advisable to also replace the springs at the same time (see options tab).
If the metal strip through which the rear tension cable runs is rusted, it is also available separately for the Beetle (see related products tab).
