If the oil pressure warning light comes on regularly at idle, it's quite possible that the oil pump is worn, in which case the oil pressure should be measured.
The following information applies to Type 1, Type 3, CT/CZ and WBX engines only:
Oil pressure should be measured at an oil temperature of 70 degrees and an engine speed of 2,500 rpm. The measured pressure must now be at least 2 bar. Gear play must not exceed 0.2 mm, and the oil pump cover must not show deep gear wear (there must be no more than 0.1 mm play between the oil pump cover and the gears). Wear on the end of the drive pinion is always noticeable, but should not be too severe either. When dismantling the oil pump, it is advisable to remove the threaded ends first, after which you can use an oil pump puller to remove the pump from the housing effortlessly and without damage.
The following information applies to Type 4 engines only:
Oil pressure must be measured at an oil temperature of 80 degrees and an engine speed of 2000 rpm. The measured pressure must be at least 2 bar under these conditions. When dismantling the oil pump, we recommend removing the threaded ends first. The pump can then be carefully lifted out of the housing using two crutches. The replacement pump offered here has a slightly higher flow rate than the original version, and therefore offers nothing but advantages. Unlike the standard pump, which has a 2 mm shorter gear, this version ensures better oil flow and therefore more reliable engine lubrication.
The following information applies to diesel engines only:
The oil pump of a diesel engine is accessible after removing the crankcase. Oil pressure should be measured at an oil temperature of 80 degrees and an engine speed of 2000 rpm. The measured pressure should now be at least 2 bar. The clearance between the gears must not exceed 0.2 mm, and the clearance between the edge of the housing and the gears must not exceed 0.15 mm. Wear at the end of the drive pinion is always noticeable, but should not be too great. The oil pump is supplied as a complete part, but without the track seal, which must be added (see "Options" tab).
