Product description
On the Volkswagen Vanagon, the steering rod consists of two parts. The upper part is supported by the steering column and rests on a flange on the lower steering stem. The flange is fastened to the upper steering rod with a clamp, and to the lower steering rod with a pin.
The rubber rings or bushings mentioned here are pressed into the flange into which the lower steering rod is pressed, in particular to counteract vibrations.
Annoying vibrations and/or excessive steering play can be the cause of wear on the steering rod bushes.
Note: Only use glycerine as a lubricant when fitting the bushes (mentioned in the "options" tab). The use of non-glycerine agents is likely to corrode the rubber and accelerate aging.
