Product description
Our Volkswagens are full of screws, bolts, nuts and washers that are not all made for a particular model, but are used universally. These parts are recognizable by their part numbers beginning with the "N" of the German word Normteile, which means "standard parts".
The spring washer shown here is not a normal spring washer like you might find in any hardware store, the ends are bent up like a hook. Made of spring steel, these spring washers not only secure the nut by applying continuous tension to it, they also grip the metal tightly for an extra lock.
Volkswagen only used this spring washer when additional locking was needed. Therefore, do not replace it with a spring washer without a locking hook, as this could loosen the nut.
Note: Always use the correct assembly parts prescribed by Volkswagen. This also applies to these so-called "Aufgebogen" spring washers.
Below you will find a list per VW model of what these A-shaped spring washers are used for and how many parts are needed in total.
