Product description
The spare wheel well or compartment appears to be a sealed area, but nothing could be further from the truth: there are many places where moisture can penetrate the trunk. It's not for nothing that the underside of the spare wheel well is pierced with holes designed to evacuate moisture. On most restored Volkswagens, there's a great deal of rust in this area.
Repairing rust holes by welding is generally not the right solution; replacing complete sheet metal parts is the best solution in most cases.
For cars from model year 1961 onwards, it is possible to obtain a complete spare wheel well, but also only the rear with the underside. In addition, the windshield washer reservoir and the underside of the spare wheel reservoir are available as separate parts.
For pre-1961 cars, the rear is supplied separately from the center section, allowing you to keep parts that don't need replacing.
Note: Please note that the rear complete with underside for Volkswagen Beetles from model year 1961 onwards is fitted with a square inspection hatch, this was the original case on Beetles produced in Brazil, unlike the German models where it was a half-round hole. The windshield washer reservoir support is also unfamiliar to our German Beetles, and you can remove it by drilling out the spot welds. This rear with underside also works for the Karmann Ghia, but with a few modifications.
