Product description
The bench seats in the passenger compartment of our classic Volkswagen Bus are attached to the floor plate using hammerhead bolts and standard nuts or wing nuts, as well as clamps.
If you own a standard Beetle up to model year 1964, it had no manual seat length adjustment, unlike export models which did.
On standard Beetle models, the seats were attached to the base plate using brackets and wing nuts. To move the seat forwards or backwards, it first had to be dismantled and placed in another hole, either further forward or further back. Then, simply retighten the wing nuts to adjust the position of the seat.
The brackets around the seat tubes were later used to secure the middle seat of Volkswagen's Split Bus.
The mountings for the middle and rear seats of the Volkswagen Bus differ from one another. One of these differences is the height of the clamp, which depends on the situation: whether the bench seat rests directly on the floor, or whether there is still a rubber floor mat between the two. The year of manufacture also plays a role. On older models, the brackets simply fit around the seat tubes, without any additional fastening. Volkswagen later improved this situation by adding an extra hole in the seat tubes, where the collar is fitted with a locking pin that fits into this hole for added security.
In short: check carefully which clamps are suitable for your bench, and measure them if necessary before ordering. It often happens that a bench from another year of construction has been fitted to a Bus, leading you to order the wrong clamps.
Note: All clamps are made of forged steel, just like the original, and also feature a black powder coating.
