On most Beetles, the luggage compartment cardboard also protects the wiring, but this was not fitted or designed in the same way for every model year.
If the luggage compartment cardboard on your Beetle does not extend up to beneath the windscreen, even though it should according to the model and year, it is advisable to fit at least this panel. This keeps the wiring neatly and safely covered, just as Volkswagen originally intended.
If you prefer not to fit any luggage compartment cardboard at all but still want to keep the wiring neatly out of sight and properly protected, this panel is also an excellent solution. In that case, the stated model years are not decisive for the application.
For a VW1200, VW1300 or VW1500 with a front luggage compartment lid fitted with ventilation slots, you need the panel with a cut-out at the top. If the lid has no ventilation slots, you need the version without this cut-out. Check the Other models tab if the version listed here is not suitable for your Beetle.
The stated model years indicate when Volkswagen fitted this panel as standard from the factory in combination with the luggage compartment cardboard.
The panels are manufactured from black plastic. This is considerably more durable than the original cardboard and less susceptible to deformation and wear.
