The fuse box isn't always the best place for a fuse, especially when adding electrical equipment that wasn't installed at the factory but still needs protection.
Volkswagen realized this early on when options such as backup lights and fog lights became available. When developing the wiring harness, additional accessories were not taken into account, more or less out of necessity, an inline fuse was mounted with a clamp on the fan shroud.
This floating fuse (series fuse) was then used for all sorts of options such as auxiliary heating, radio and many other options that were not present at the factory.
On older Volkswagens, the wiring is screwed in with a non-insulated connector. In the next model, the wiring is connected with flat plugs. The spade plugs disappear into the housing and therefore cannot cause any short circuits, which is possible in older models. This is also the reason why this fuse has been modified in terms of design and connection method by Volkswagen.
The inline fuse shown here is an exact reproduction of the original and comes with an 8 amp fuse. Check that this is the correct fuse for the device you are going to connect and, if necessary, get the correct additional fuse (see the "Options" tab).
Note: Remember to order the appropriate holder bracket (see "Options" tab), as an inline fuse must be fixed in position and must not hang freely.
