Product description
In 1982, the third generation of the VW Bus switched from a mechanical clutch to a hydraulic system. This eliminates the need for adjustment and wear of the clutch cable and the operation is much smoother, which has considerably improved operating comfort.
In addition to its many advantages, it also has its disadvantages: as the Bus ages, you can start having problems with the hydraulic system, leaks being the most common problem.
The oil is transported from the cylinder to the pedal via a metal tube to the cylinder at the gearbox. This line is interrupted by a flexible hose to allow the connection between the gearbox and the chassis without the line tearing due to the movements of the gearbox mounted in rubber.
Check the condition of this hose regularly for cracks and replace it if necessary. Once the hose starts leaking, you will drain the system in a very short time, unintentionally, and you will no longer have a working clutch.
