Product description
When the third generation Volkswagen Bus arrived, an air-cooled engine was retained for the first few years. These were a modified Type 4 2000 cm3 engine from the previous Bus series and a modified Type 1 1600 cm3 engine called CT or CV.
The CT was a carburetor engine, while the CV was equipped with a fuel injection system. VW Buses with CT or CV engines were the most economical entry-level models for the domestic market.combi models for export were equipped exclusively with the 2000cc Type 4 engine.
The CT or CV engine may be a modified Type 1 engine as a base, but the exhaust assembly is completely different. The exhaust silencer is connected to the heat exchanger pipes by a number of connectors, with an adaptation made in 1980 from a terminal connection (as we know it from the Type 1 engine) to a flange connection (as is also the case with 2000cc engines).
