M8 nuts are commonplace, both in standard quality and in hardened versions. Before you think: an M8 nut is an M8 nut, as long as it holds, you're wrong. Volkswagen has used nuts of a higher strength class for a reason. So don't ignore it by replacing them with standard M8 nuts.
If a galvanized nut has been used, but the exploded view shows a class 10 nut, you can assume that it's not a genuine class 10 nut. Take no chances and replace the nut with a class 10 nut.
