Product description
On older Type 1 engines, the generator or alternator stand is sealed to the engine case with a paper gasket. On later engines, a deflector plate was used instead. This plate not only seals between the generator/alternator stand and the engine case, but also helps prevent oil from splashing upwards.
On Type 3 engines, this seal is located between the engine case and the crankcase breather housing. On older engines, just as with the older Type 1 engines, only a separate gasket is used. On later Type 3 engines, the deflector plate was added, so both the gasket and the deflector plate are fitted.
Please note: Install the deflector plate in the correct direction, as shown in the images. These show how the plate must be positioned on the engine case. The deflector plate forms part of the seal and is compressed during installation. Therefore, always use a new plate after removal and do not reuse a previously installed deflector plate.
