Product description
The first air-cooled Volkswagens did not have a fuel gauge on board, but they did have a fuel tap, which could activate a reserve when the fuel was almost exhausted. In practice, everything went exactly as Volkswagen had thought: keep driving until the engine stops, quickly activate the fuel tap in reserve mode and then hope to be able to find a gas station before running out of fuel. A situation that you only encounter once, a mileage counter placed with a magnet on the dashboard and with which you can track the mileage was the solution back in the day.
If the car ages, the fuel tap may leak, check the tap regularly for leaks and replace it if in doubt.
