Fuel leaks can have several causes. In the Volkswagen Vanagon, leaks at the filler neck are common. Differences in temperature cause the plastic to become brittle over time, so that even a small contact can cause a crack.

This new filler neck replaces the original for all model years except Syncro. For model years up to and including 1983, additional parts must be ordered to fit the filler neck correctly. Always check the existing situation to make sure you're ordering the right parts.

If your current filler neck is fitted with an additional valve to enable you to fill up with unleaded petrol only, the new version is without this feature. However, this replacement filler neck can easily replace the original.
