Product description
When developing the Porsche Sound exhaust system, price was not taken into account, but only quality, reliability and the fact that the exhaust system should deliver higher power as discreetly as possible.
The Porsche Sound exhaust system is made entirely of stainless steel, the visible parts of the silencer and the outlets are polished. All unpolished parts are sandblasted to prevent heat build-up. Extensive testing has shown that when an exhaust system has not been sandblasted, it is on average 24% hotter than a fully polished exhaust system. The temperature of the crankcase (just behind the pulley) was 0.5 per cent higher than the fully polished exhaust. But the most important point of the measurement was the temperature at the exhaust ports, which was on average 17% higher. It is known that stainless steel can emit less heat than normal steel and if polished, it can be fatal to valves.
The strength is found in the end silencer which is based on the type 4 one, the flange connection and the distance from one flange to the other is exactly the same. In terms of installation, Porsche Sound silencers could be mounted directly on a type 4 engine, provided the outlets are not in the way.
In order to improve the flow, a 38 mm tube was used and the heaters can no longer be used. A solid flange connection with 8 mm thick flanges was chosen instead of sliding tubes which can cause leakage, which is detrimental to the power.
The name is due to the specific Porsche sound.
The exhaust system is delivered complete with all necessary mounting materials and gaskets.
