Product description
This steel fuel line is the improved replacement for the original steel part. It is made of internally and externally galvanized, copper-plated strip steel. The outer layer is approximately 25 µm galvanized and additionally coated with olive-colored plastic. It runs from the fuel tank through the chassis to the engine. Rust is therefore the main reason why, in most Volkswagens, the fuel line needs to be replaced.
If you do not want to open the underside of the tunnel (drill out spot welds and grind), you will need to apply some force to pull the old line out of the clips. After that, it becomes a patient job to route the line through the chassis. In this case, you cannot reuse all the clips that originally held the line in place.
If you have considered opening the underside of the tunnel, the job becomes much easier and you can secure the line at every point as was originally intended.
Do not forget to order the grommets (see tab “options”), as these prevent the fuel line from rubbing against the edge of the chassis.
