The clutch cable is adjusted at the end of the cable with a double nut or wing nut, depending on the year of manufacture.
Until 1965, these were two nuts turned on each other, the front nut being tapered. From 1965 onwards, the two nuts were replaced by a wing nut, also tapered, but now with locking edges that fit into the oval shape of the clutch arm as a locking element. This means that a lock nut is no longer necessary, which was the case for the years up to 1965.
With the Volkswagen Beetle, Karmann Ghia and VW Split Bus which use a double nut. Volkswagen used factory clutch cables with an M6 thread, which was later changed to M7. All cables supplied later by Volkswagen as replacements and all cables from all aftermarket manufacturers are made with an M7 thread. If you still have your first clutch cable, or if it has been replaced by a cable from an older stock (original or aftermarket), it is very possible that it is a cable with an M6 thread, keep this in mind when ordering.
Don't forget to order the locknut for years up to 1965 (listed on the options tab) and possibly a special tool for later years that use a wing nut, the tool makes adjustment much easier.
Use grease when assembling to prevent rust.
