Most of our classic Volkswagens are equipped with incandescent bulbs, with only the headlights from the last few years of construction replaced by halogen bulbs.
Modern cars of this era are equipped with LED lighting, which is now also possible for our classic Volkswagens. You won't be able to replace all bulbs with LEDs, but at least most of them.
The vast majority of our LED bulbs are equipped with a cooling element. This cooling element is used to dissipate the heat generated by LEDs, although this is minimal compared with incandescent bulbs. This cooling element is necessary for bulbs that are completely enclosed, protecting the LEDs and giving the LED bulb a more authentic shape.
LED bulbs last longer, consume less energy and are much brighter than traditional incandescent bulbs. Because of the reduced current draw, Volkswagens equipped with a 6-volt system will benefit the most - a world of difference compared to traditional incandescent bulbs.
Note: With LED bulbs used for direction indicators, it's important to mention that for 6-volt systems, a special relay is required specifically for LED lights, so please order this extra. This relay is listed in the “options” tab. For 12-volt systems, we recommend using the relay we offer. If you use another type or brand of relay, it may not work with LED lights.
