Many classic Volkswagens are not used every day, causing the battery to discharge slowly and age more quickly. This intelligent OptiMate 5 battery charger and maintainer automatically keeps both 6V and 12V lead-acid batteries, including standard, AGM, GEL and deep-cycle batteries, in optimum condition.
The fully automatic 8-step programme charges the battery safely and then switches to maintenance charging. The selected voltage is stored in the memory and, thanks to the electronic protection against overcharging and sparking, the charger can remain connected for extended periods. It operates from a battery voltage as low as 0.5V, is weather-resistant and has a standby consumption of less than 0.5W. Connected electronic equipment does not need to be disconnected during charging.
The charger is supplied with battery clamps and a cable that can be permanently connected to the battery terminals, allowing easy connection via a plug.
