Spur gears lose less power than helical gears because they generate less lateral thrust, which also reduces bearing wear.
Volkswagen specifically chose helical gears to make the engine as quiet as possible. Another advantage is that the camshaft bearings do not wear excessively.
If you choose the set with the adjustment option, the camshaft gear is adjustable 2 or 4 degrees (use the black adjustment discs if no adjustment is needed), you can adjust this afterwards through the oil pump hole.
When fitting high-performance springs, we recommend fitting one of these straight sets.
