Product description
The front axle is completely filled with grease and must be lubricated regularly. Where the front axle support arms disappear into the front axle, there are retaining rings to ensure that the grease stays in place.
When lubricating, pump grease into the front axle until reasonably clean grease is expelled through the retaining rings (grease seals). The grease seals must be flexible on one side and rigid enough on the other to hold the grease in place. The composition of the rubber is important here and determines the quality of the grease seal.
Quality note: For a number of vehicles with the corresponding model years, sealing rings are available in two qualities. Quality A is identical to the original, with metal reinforcement and the correct rubber composition. Quality B, on the other hand, has no metal reinforcement, and the material composition is more plastic than rubber. The service life of these B-grade gaskets cannot therefore be compared with that of A-grade gaskets.
