Many ideas behind the classic Cal look originate from the 1950s, the early years of Volkswagen. A well-known example of this are the so-called one-piece door windows. These are single-piece side windows where the small vent window is completely eliminated. This results in a cleaner and more timeless appearance.

For the installation of one-piece door windows, the original vent window must be removed and the support on which it rests must be cut away. In addition, several holes need to be drilled in the door for mounting the window channels. The standard door checks must also be removed and replaced with flexible versions. On vehicles from model year 1968 and later, it is necessary to replace the window regulator with a version featuring a double lifting mechanism. This type of mechanism was originally used on Volkswagen models built between August 1964 and 1968. All required parts, including the matching window chassis, can be found under the ‘Options’ tab.

There is a choice of different sealing systems. Sets are available with universal glue-in window seals, as well as snap-in window seals specifically developed for one-piece door windows.

The snap-in system consists of window seals with integrated metal strips that provide additional rigidity. Using the supplied clips, the seal is clicked into the door in a similar way to the original installation. The ends are fitted with aluminium rods, allowing the seal to follow the curvature of the door neatly.

The glue-in window seals are universal seals that must be bonded into the window channel. By making small cuts at several points, the seal can be shaped to follow the curvature of the door.

Please note that installing snap-in window seals takes more time than glue-in window seals, but the final result is a cleaner and more professional finish.
