These clamps are essential for securing the backrest tilt and seat length adjustment knob to the metal rod.
Problems with the knob are not solely due to the loss of the pliers. Age can wear away the teeth that engage the plastic of the knob, or the clamping force of the knob itself diminishes over time. Without a properly functioning clamp, the knob will never remain stable.
Specifically for bus models, this clamp is only used to secure the seatback knob. This applies to models designed for passenger transport, where the first part of the handrail folds down to facilitate access to the rear row of seats.
