Product description
On the VW Beetle, the trunk release cable is located in the glove compartment. If the cable needs replacing, it comes with a tensioning sleeve for attaching it to the lever.
What many people don't know is that Volkswagen used a tensioning sleeve for this purpose in the early 1970s, before which it was a notched pin (listed in the "other models" tab).
This same clamping sleeve was also used for the central heating outlet cable on the Baywindow Bus and, until the model change in 1968, on Type 3 models to secure ventilation cables.
The advantage of a tension sleeve over a notched pin is that it can be reused if necessary, although many don't, as the tension sleeve loses its range over time.
If you opt for the 100% original, the cables listed with the year of manufacture indicated should be secured with a tension sleeve. In the case of the VW Bus and VW Type 3, you have no other choice.
