Product description
ClassicVW TECH is a series of technical books about the air-cooled Volkswagen.
Unlike most technical manuals, ClassicVW TECH starts from the assumption that the reader has no previous technical knowledge or practical experience. The air-cooled VW is explained as never before. In a simple yet structured way. After reading the ClassicVW TECH series, the reader will have a good basic knowledge to better feel and understand his classic VW.
This series is based on years of technical experience of the author, who, like most of us, started with the basics. The author can always refer back to basic concepts of automotive engineering and of the air-cooled VW, in such a way that the reader can very easily understand what it all means.
Never before has a technical manual been so simply written and with the sole underlying objective: "to allow the enthusiast of the VW Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3, VW 411/412 or VW Bus to enjoy his hobby."
ClassicVW TECH consists of several volumes, each volume has a specific theme. The ClassicVW TECH books are finished with hard covers in deluxe finish and count 128 pages per volume.
Below is a brief overview of the contents of each volume.
#9315 TECH volume 1: Gives you a technical introduction to the air-cooled VW. This book is intended for enthusiasts who have no knowledge of VW technology, have no idea how everything works and, for example, don't know where the starter motor is located. After reading volume 1 you will better understand the technology of the air-cooled Volkswagen, this book will give you the basic knowledge to understand the other books in this series.
#9317 TECH volume 3: Continues with the fuel system with the end point in this volume being the adjustment of the carburetor. We discuss the following parts of the boxer engine: the air filter, fuel tank, fuel pump, carburetor and intake manifold. We help you diagnose your VW's gasoline circuit to fix any trouble spots.
#9318 TECH volume 4: Covers the operation, diagnosis, maintenance, adjustment and overhaul of your VW's oil circuit. We discuss all possible oil leaks and how to fix them. To cover the oil circuit completely, we also had to explain in this volume how to disassemble the engine, how the flywheel and clutch work, and we had to give a hint about air cooling.
#9319 TECH volume 5: Takes a look at the cooling, heating and exhaust. In volume 4 we had already taken out the cooling housing to replace the oil cooler. In volume 5 we go a little further and take a look at the complete air cooling system. We start by explaining how it works, then we determine how to diagnose it, we end this book with the real work, taking out and rebuilding the air cooling components of your VW.
#9320 TECH volume 6: With volume 6 we begin the engine overhaul, the skillful and smart disassembly of the engine we discuss in volume 6. Before deciding to overhaul the engine, we ask the question: when is overhaul actually necessary? We discuss this question and all the background knowledge you need to properly make an overhaul decision. Smart engine disassembly is what we discuss in volume 6.
#9321 TECH volume 7: In volume 7, we will discuss sizing parts in rebuilding and help you choose engine parts from the rotating section. Volume 6 and volume 7 will guide you in rebuilding your engine, whether you do it yourself or have it done, either way these books will prove very valuable.
