Rust holes in the chassis head are a common problem, not because Volkswagen didn't design it properly, but because age will take its toll.
The entire chassis head can be replaced. If only the underside needs to be replaced, it is also available separately (see replacement parts tab).
The chassis head for the Volkswagen Beetle 1302 and 1303 is universal for all construction years and therefore has double mounting locations for the support arms.
The chassis heads of the Beetles 1200-1300-1500, Karmann Ghia and VW Thing are equipped with holders for brake hoses,
Look out! When replacing the complete chassis head, make sure that it is 100% correctly welded to the chassis so that it does not exhibit strange driving behaviour later on. Measure as many fixed points as possible before putting a grinder on it, or better yet, make a welding frame.
