Product description
Originally, these screws were made of galvanized steel, which we believe was a poor choice on Volkswagen's part. These screws are used to attach the fender mirrors, among other things. Whatever unrestored Volkswagen Vanagon you see, they all have rusty screws and often so bad that there is a trace of rust on the paint.
If these screws had been stainless steel, this would never have happened. That's why the screws mentioned here are made of stainless steel and fully comply with Volkswagen specifications. Even the original can be improved, as these stainless steel screws clearly prove.
Besides the fact that these screws are mainly used for the exterior mirrors, they are also used to secure the sliding door lock and the remote control lock (if your VW Bus is equipped with one). In addition, they were used to secure the table edge on Carat versions and to mount the bracket for the decontamination powder boxes that were used on Volkswagen Buses for the German military.
Below, by application, is the number of screws you would need if you were to replace them all:
- manual sliding door lock mechanism 3 pieces
- remote control rear sliding door lock 2 pieces
- remote control front sliding door lock 1 piece
- manually operated exterior mirrors 4 pieces4 pieces
- power exterior mirrors 6 pieces
- mounting bracket for decontamination powder boxes 2 pieces
- folding table edge mount on Carat models 8 pieces
