Mud flaps are nothing new: as early as the 1950s, car manufacturers offered them as an additional option to protect the body against dirt and gravel.

In the 1970s, all cars in the Netherlands had to be equipped with mud flaps. However, the law made an exception for cars whose construction did not allow the installation of mud flaps. Virtually all new cars produced after this law were covered by this exception. The decision to use mud flaps was quickly abandoned, the effect was minimal, difficult to control and, in addition, the roads dried faster with mud flaps free traffic. Volkswagen also opted for the mud flaps, which were standard or could be ordered as an option, just like in previous years.

You will no longer easily find the original VW mud flaps, but they are available for reproduction. You can choose between black or white mud flaps with the EMPI logo or black mud flaps with the year of construction of your VW.

The mud flaps are supplied with mounting brackets and mounting materials.

Caution: The supplied mounting brackets have been poorly protected during manufacture, remove the transport paint and give a protective layer before installing them.
