The ignition timing is adjusted based on certain characteristics applied to the pulley and the crankcase.
On type 4 engines, a scale is factory mounted on a separate plastic bracket. If this bracket is missing, there are no features to properly adjust the ignition.
If this scale holder is damaged at the mounting points, it must be replaced, also when the scale is no longer legible.
