With Type 1 and Type 3 engines, the fresh air thermostat is actuated by a metal rod directly connected to the right-hand cooling valve, with Type 4 and CT/CZ engines, it is actuated by a cable. If this cable breaks, the cooling valves will open automatically. There is therefore no risk of overheating, but during cold starts or at low outside temperatures, it is difficult for the engine to reach its operating temperature, resulting in premature wear of the engine.
Check the operation of the cooling system at each service, and if the cable is broken, do not continue to drive it but replace it.
The cable has the correct length for type 4 motors (469 mm) and if you have to use it for CT/CZ motors, reduce it to 350 mm.
