Product description
Separating the two crankcase halves usually does not happen easily. Gasket material and locating pins can cause the halves to stick firmly together.
Inexperienced mechanics sometimes use a screwdriver to pry between the crankcase halves. This is a serious mistake, as it can damage the sealing surfaces and cause oil leaks later on.
Always use a crankcase splitter. Install it in the opening where the oil pump was located and tighten the nut until the crankcase halves separate. This is the only safe way to split the crankcase without causing damage.
