Product description
On the VW Beetles from 1969 through 1985, there is a hole on the rear of the tubular beam through which the inside of the tubular beam can be inspected and preserved. On most cars, this hole is hidden from view because a previous owner repaired the tubular beam and did not take into account that there should be a hole there. Originally, these are untreated metal plugs that have deteriorated on most cars, partly because they are in the most critical rust area of the car. With these new plugs you will no longer have this problem, they are 100% the same as the original except that the plug itself is made of stainless steel and the clamp of galvanized spring steel.
Note : The plugs are 100% equal to the original (diameter 22.8 mm). If you use imitation sheet metal parts, it may happen that when holes are present, they do not match the original size.
#50810 : preservative
Through these plugs you can thus treat the inside of the box girders with preservative (to prevent corrosion). Even if you only use the car on weekends on a sunny day, you should not give rust a chance. Treat the inside and inspect every year to make sure the preservative is still there. Only in this way can you be assured that you have done everything possible to keep rust out through the tubular beams. To get to everything properly, one of the things that comes with the spray can is a long flexible spray head that sprays the preservative 360º around.
