Product description
The pinion bearing is tensioned with a special tensioning nut, which can be reused if the threads are in good condition.
You need a socket wrench for pinion nuts, both for assembly and disassembly. We regularly find that the nut is badly damaged, which is due to assembly and/or disassembly with the wrong tools, such as a hammer and screwdrivers or universal pliers.
A sprocket nut socket wrench will therefore need to be in your possession to do this job, on the 'options' tab is mentioned this tool, order it extra if needed.
This sprocket nut is used in most Volkswagens from a certain chassis number onwards.
On the Volkswagen Vanagon in Syncro version, it is not only used in the gearbox, but also in the differential at the front.
