Volkswagen was quick to propose the possibility of hanging a jacket in the car, especially in the early days when this was considered a much-used extra luxury. The attachment of the clothes hooks also secures the loops of the handles, giving the hook a double function: that of a coat hanger and that of a finishing cap for the loops of the handles.
These coat hooks are used on the Volkswagen Split Bus and the Bay Window Bus, the VW Split Bus having two per handle loop and the Bay Window Bus one per loop.
The hook consists of two parts, the base hook and the cap that closes the button after tightening the parker screw (not included). The photo shows what the part looks like.
The colour is cloud white which matches the original handle loops and is supplied individually.
