Product description
All Volkswagen Bus models equipped with power-assisted brakes are equipped with a vacuum check valve which ensures that no pressure can build up in the power-assisted brakes due to engine backfire. The overpressure in the inlet manifold can no longer be increased by the non-return valve.
The non-return valve indicates how it should be fitted between the pipes. On VW Vanagons, it is originally equipped with shaped hoses. This non-return valve is supplied without hoses, so it does not depend on the engine, so use existing pre-formed hoses.
Note: Regularly check all hoses from your engine brake to the intake manifold for weather damage. Especially the connecting rubbers that make the connection between the hoses and on the VW Vanagon also make the connection on the brake booster, a leak can lead to severe engine damage.
This same return valve was also used on Mexican Volkswagen Beetles equipped with a 1600cc carbureted engine for the carburetor vacuum system.
